New flights connecting Barbados with South America

NEW DOORS to South America are set to be officially opened to Barbadians next month as Surinamese airline Fly All Ways offers new flight routes to Brazil, Suriname and Guyana.

Managing director for Fly All Ways Amichand Jhauw made the announcement today at the Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport in Suriname as he welcomed a small group of Barbadians who had made the near 600 mile journey south.

“What we are trying to do is give the Caribbean people the opportunity to visit destinations where there are no regular flights,” Jhauw said while speaking to NATION ONLINE.

He explained that the airline had done market studies to see how they could connect the Suriname and the rest of the Caribbean, and as a result of those studies, they developed new air routes that other airlines weren’t flying.

In addition to this, Jhauw said the two year old airline was hoping to develop trade with the Caribbean as he explained that if there was no transportation, you couldn’t develop trade.

Barbadians will be able to directly fly to Suriname, and from there travel to São Luís and Fortaleza in north-eastern Brazil and Boa Vista in the north of the country.

Jhauw added that Fly All Ways would be offering flights from Guyana to St Maarten and Antigua as well as chartered tours. (AD)
